E-Licensing at the Department of Labor and Training

Department of Labor and Training Director Adelita S. Orefice and the Governor's Fiscal Fitness Program officials announced further expansion of online services for Rhode Islanders with the launch of E-Licensing at the Department of Labor and Training. Now, Electricians, Hoisting Professionals, Mechanical technicians, Telecommunication Technicians, and Plumbers/Irrigators can renew their professional licenses online and pay the statutory fee through the convenience of a credit card.

The E-Licensing program was developed by the Governor’s Fiscal Fitness team, the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), and state licensing agencies. It has resulted in a very quick and easy online service via www.ri.gov/licensing, where Rhode Islanders can renew licenses simply inputting the license number and matching other identifying information. Users also have the ability to update their personal address while viewing the license record.

Over 28,000 individuals regulated by the Department of Labor and Training now have access to this online service. “In this information age, I am pleased that our state government can now provide business-friendly technology to professionals working in Rhode Island,” said Governor Carcieri.
